Premium Solar Power System

 

 

 

 

 

A premium solar power system is made up of:

• Solar power panels from a high quality manufacturer

• Solar inverter from a high quality manufacturer

• Solar racking/mounting system to install the panels onto the roof/structure

• Premium cabling, conduit, etc

• Premium switches/isolators

• Premium connectors, ties, etc

Most providers of premium systems will be signing the Clean Energy Council Code of Practice.  This requires a 5 year parts and labour warranty for the cable, switches, etc, so they need to be premium quality.

An accredited designed looks at each individual installation and determines how to configure the panels and the inverter, including MPPTs and strings.

The accredited designer passes instructions to an accredited installer (sometimes these are the same person).  The designer and installer determine the foot spacing for the mounting system based on AS1170. 

The installation is signed off and STC paperwork is lodged.  The designer and installer prepare a comprehensive folder for the customer that includes installation details, measurements taken on commissioning, recommended maintenance, user manuals, etc.

Customers call Central Solar Systems if there are any problems or questions.  Central Solar Systems will assess any issues and perform warranty work as required (this includes panel, inverter and mounting system warranty work).

Why Install Premium Panels?

Regardless of what people will tell you there IS a large different between solar power panels.  Our premium panels are in no way connected with China.  The following are common with lower cost Chinese panels:

• EVA Backing.  The backing of the panel is usually made from a substance called EVA.  EVA must be cured at a precise temperature for a precise amount of time otherwise it will break down.  This causes yellowing, short circuits and in worst cases - fire.  Proper control of EVA curing is not possible in the majority of factories that manufacture low cost panels.  Manufacturers of premium quality panels have the technology to prcisely manage the curing process.

• Tracks/Busbars.  The horizontal and vertical tracks on a panel conduct the electricity from the panel.  Manufacturers of low cost panels employ staff to do this by hand.  This results in tracks and busbars that don't properly meet, ineffective spot soldering and the introduction of impurities onto the cell surface.  These can lead to significant loss of power, and in the worst cases - fire.  Manufacturers of premium panels run factories which mainly utilise robots.  This ensures the precision required for the placement and soldering of tracks and busbars.

• Manufacturers of premium panels have the technology to pick up cells with miniature cracks before they leave the factory.  The frame is also more robust and twist resistent which means there is no cell cracking after the panels are installed.  This improves efficiency.

• Manufacturers of premium panels utilise state of the art technologies when etching, doping and finishing the cells/panels.  This technology results in significant increases in power generated at different times of the day.

These are just a few of the reasons why you should stay right away from low cost panels.  You will be promised a lot, and when the panels stop working the retailer, wholesaler and manufacturer have all disappeared.
